Few minutes ago, I was smoking under my office block. As you all might have known, the Singapore government implemented some tough measure to limit spaces where smokers are allowed to smoke.
Areas that are out of bound to smokers are covered walkways, within 5m of building entrance / exit point, children playground, multi-storey car park and lift lobby.
As usual, I was smoking at the designated smoking point which was assigned by the building management. The smoking point is located along a sheltered walkway used by people working at Surbana Tower 5 and Henderson Industrial area to get to Bukit Merah Hawker Center for their food. As I was smoking, there was this kiddo prick who seems to be in his 20s telling his friend in a loud and audible voice that smokers are not allowed to smoke in sheltered area and that he wants to call the police while giving me a what-you-have-done-is-wrong look. Without second thought I showed him the finger and continued my smoke as I know even if he calls the police, it will take them 20 minutes to 1 hour to arrive.
Why I’m so sure about that? Because what that ignorant prick didn’t know is that with the manpower shortage in the Singapore Police Force, they would not deploy their patrol team to non-emergency cases or any cases where the offence is deem not seizable or violated the Singapore penal code. So even if the police arrive at the scene, the most the police at the scene can do is to take down my particular and advice me to stub out my cigarette. THAT’S ALL, if that prick expect to see me to get handcuffed and escorted to the patrol car to be driven to police station, that won’t happens, he is just too fucking childish from watching too much movies and dramas.
So next time before you want to call 999 or your friendly neighbourhood police post number, think twice to determine if the person who committed an offence is seizable or if there’s any violation of the penal code.
