Platform Screen Door

Most of us have seen and read in the news few months back that SMRT will be installing platform screen door at various above-ground MRT station to prevent passengers waiting on the platform from falling onto the track.

Yesterday while waiting for the west-bound MRT to arrive, I saw the platform screen door that was being installed. It is not operational yet, will the platform screen door improve safety or will it causeĀ inconvenienceĀ to passengers?

cannot comment on this topic until i’ve seen the doors function. as for now, the ones at pasir ris aren’t functioning. and i haven’t seen any others in working order yet.

but there goes mrt suicides on youtube. ):

  2. william says:

You can see the working platform screen doors at Sentosa Island :)

  3. ann says:

eh with all this extra added measures ah, i hope they prolong the door opening time!
all these will make going in and out very delayed.

  4. william says:

I think the platform screen door works just like the one in Sentosa. Shouldn’t have any delay but just need to worry if the train driver can see those slow moving elderly folks coming out from the train from their CCTV camera.

  5. boon says:

wait and see. How bad it is, bound to hear negative comments. Whatever it is, it had been build and improve moves on.
